Dell's Adamo 13 ultraportable slips to $899, gets a spec bump
It's been awhile since we've heard any news from the Adamo camp, but for those looking to blow a bit of that Santa cash on something thin and light, the timing here couldn't possibly be better. Nearly 1.5 years after the 13-inch ultraportable was let loose -- for $1,999 and up, no less -- a new low-cost configuration has emerged at Dell's website. These days, $899 gets you a 0.65-inch thick machine, complete with a 13.4-inch WLED display (1366 x 768 resolution), 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600 processor, a 64-bit copy of Windows 7 Home Premium and 4GB of DDR3-800 memory. You'll also get a 128GB SSD, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a 40 WHr Lithium Polymer battery, and if you're down for spending a bit more, you can grab an internal mobile broadband module as well. Or, you know, you could wait and see what kind of treasures CES brings. Your call.

Medion Akoya P6624 hit Sainsbury's stores exclusively
Sainsbury's are now exclusively offering Medion's Akoya P6624 laptop alongside your spuds and sprouts this Christmas. And it's got a spec sheet as tasty as a stuffed turkey by the looks of things.
A 15.6 inch LED backlit HD screen is the focus, running off of an Intel Core i5-460M processor with 4GB memory and a 640GB hard disk. Hyper-Threading technology allows for four-way multitasking, letting each processor core run two tasks simultaneously.
NVIDIA GeForce GT425M DirectX 11 with 1024MB of dedicated RAM is on graphics duty, with "Optimus technology" allowing to switch to a power saving mode for less intensive tasks.

A new Aspire One by Acer
AMD Fusion's taken its sweet, sweet time getting here, but we're hearing you'll be able to get your hands on some Atom-beating netbook chips soon -- for instance, in this Acer Aspire One 522, which will reportedly drive its oh-so-glossy 10.1-inch, 720p screen with a 1GHz AMD C-50 Ontario APU. In case you need a brief refresher, Ontario's the chip rated at just nine watts, meaning we should expect some fairly decent battery life here, though possibly not the heroic performance of its 1.6GHz Zacate cousin. Aside from those specs, the Acer's mostly your standard netbook -- three USB ports, VGA-out, a webcam and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi -- though it does have HDMI out, something you won't find on the otherwise similar Aspire One D255. It's hard to say what it'll cost stateside, but a Thai e-tailer's ringing up a version right now with 2GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive for 12,829 baht (about $425). Wonder if it runs Android?

CruxCase for iPad Brings Netbook Form Factor to Apple Tablet
Like a number of iPad cases that try to marry a case and keyboard into a netbook form factor before it, the CruxCase 360 will take on the same challenge and form factor to try and turn your iPad into a netbook. However, unlike other cases that we've seen before, which uses a faux leather soft material, the case on the Crux 360 is a hardened plastic, and the screen can rotate all the way around turning tour iPad into something akin to a Motorola Backflip and use the keyboarded portion as a stand. The design is similar to the ClamCase and gives the CruxCase a more solid laptop or netbook feel to it. The Crux 360 will go for $149. Check out the video after the break.

AUO demo touchscreen solar laptop keyboard & tablet/notebook glasses-free 3D panels
Logitech were pretty proud of their K750 wireless solar keyboard, but AU Optronics is planning to best them at the upcoming FPD International expo with a 14-inch solar-powered touch keyboard solution for notebooks. Basically a touchscreen display for a virtual keyboard, integrated into a solar panel, the new tech will go on show alongside AUO’s new 10.1- and 15.6-inch glasses-free 3D panels.
Those panels, AUO claims, are deadzone-free thanks to an eye-tracking system developed by SuperD. That allows for 2D and 3D content to be displayed concurrently, with the 10.1-inch panel running at WXVGA (and targeted at tablets, AUO says) while the 15.6-inch panel runs at Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Mass production is expected to kick off in Q3 2011.
As for the touchscreen solar keyboard, it’s a mere 2.1-mm thick and can run off sunlight or artificial lighting. It’s not enough to do away with mains power altogether, unsurprisingly, but it can apparently reduce external power requirements by around 20-percent.

Asus Lamborghini Eee PC VX6 ships at long last
Normally, an Eee PC branding would mean a netbook, and we all know that netbooks aren't good for anything else apart from opening up a couple of work documents with one browser (or two) running in the background, otherwise the poor little machine is going to start sputtering all over as it just lacks the processing muscle to handle all the additional tasks. Asus must have thought that their 12.1-inch Lamborghini Eee PC VX6 will automatically give an impression of it being faster by virtue of its association with the exotic car manufacturer, just like how rice rockets gain an extra 5mph with a sticker or two on their spoiler. Running on an Intel Atom D525 processor, this netbook will feature slightly higher end innards such as an NVIDIA Optimus graphics chipset and Bang & Olufsen audio capability, retailing for £499 a pop.
